Outer Reef Pontoons

Imagine a Great Barrier Reef Pontoon as a small floating island, placed there for your enjoyment and pleasure. It is permanently moored on the outer Great Barrier Reef. Pontoons offer a great reef option for families or mixed groups due to the vast array of activities on offer.

The picture below will give you a good idea of how a GBR pontoon operates, although yours may differ slightly depending on the tour you choose. All of them will provide much easier and safer snorkelling than directly from a boat. Most will also feature an underwater viewing area and semi-submarine and/or glass bottom boat for the non-swimmers with scuba diving, advanced snorkelling tours and even helmet diving for the more adventurous (snorkelling straight off the pontoon is included in all tours).
