Things to Do in July.

Cairns is spectacular in July, the sun's out, the chances of rain are minimal and people are flocking to this destination from all over the world. As July is part of the "peak" or "high" tourist season in Cairns we definately advise you to book ahead, as many of the more popular tours and attractions may be fully booked.

Although it's mid winter, July is also the perfect time to visit the Great Barrier Reef, with the air temperatures in the mid 20's and the water temperature between 22° and 25° it's equivalent to a mild Sydney summers day, and definately warmer in the water than Melbourne or Adelaide in the middle of their summer! Some popular Great Barrier Reef day tours perfectly suited to July are our ever popular "Green Island and Great Barrier Reef Adventure" which visit's both a outer reef pontoon and Green Island in the one day - it's like 2 different reef trips combined, offering something for the whole family. If you're staying in Cairns for more than a few days you may want to consider our "Amazing 3 Day Reef Pass", it allows you to choose 3 out of 6 different reef cruises all for the one low price. You can potentially save over $200 with this pass.

July is also the beginning of the annual humpback whale season in Cairns. While it's common to encounter whales on pretty much any reef cruise, we now have a dedicated "Cairns Whale Watching" cruise - with sightings guaranteed or you can go again for free.

As always, a visit to Kuranda on the Skyrail and Scenic Train is a must do while in Cairns. Maybe take along a light jumper if you'll be in Kuranda in the late afternoon, as the mountain air can be a bit colder than in Cairns.

Kuranda Train & Skyrail - from $112

Kuranda Village is a quaint little town located at the top of the mountain range just behind Cairns. Kuranda is most famous because of its means of getting there. The Kuranda Scenic Train winds its way in an hour and a half journey up the mountain to Kuranda, and Skyrail is a cable car ride that takes at least one hour to get there, travelling above world heritage listed rainforest.

Green Island & The Reef - from $232

The complete reef and island experience awaits with this exciting cruise. A fast 45 minute catamaran ride will take you to beautiful Green Island to enjoy two hours on this unique reef and rainforest coral cay.A day of adventure and discovery continues onto Cairns Adventures’ spacious activity platform moored on the majestic Outer Great Barrier Reef.
