The Resort
Rainforest backs onto Thala's private beach frontage providing a natural setting for guests to relax in nature while still being within easy access of The Great Barrier Reef, Cairns, Port Douglas and the Daintree Rainforest.
Situated on the northernmost headland of a 2km stretch of private, untouched coastline the views from our restaurant are panoramic, taking in the Far North Queensland coast from Double Island to Cape Tribulation, and from the sparkling waters of the Great Barrier Reef to the World Heritage Forests that cover our coastal ranges.
Thala Beach Lodge provides a natural and secluded environment for your relaxation, and is a tranquil haven at the end of a hard day’s exploring. Whether strolling at sunrise on our private tropical beach or relaxing with cocktails watching the sunset over the coastal ranges, you will be enchanted by your surrounds.
Jungle Walk Bungalow
Jungle Walk Bungalows capture the intimate feel of the unique woodland forest, are finished in subtle natural colours, and located deep within the forest furthest from the main lodge area.
Tracks through the vine forest and birding paths are within easy access.

Eucalypt Bungalow
Thala’s Eucalypt Bungalows capture the intimate feel of our unique tropical forest. Tropical birds often rest in the treetops directly off the balcony.
Eucalypt Bungalows are individually placed and border the paths as they rise up the headland through Eucalypt forest. The rise affords height for the verandahs that are perfect for watching for birds and butterlies as they settle and feed in the forest canopy. There is a priviledged feeling of intimacy with our unique tropical forest and it’s inhabitants.
Coral Sea Bungalow
Coral Sea Bungalows offer the ultimate in what Thala’s environment has on display. They follow the higher ridges of the headland and look through and over the top fringes of the forest canopy to a spectacular view over the ocean yet are unobtrusively tucked away into the natural landscape.
From the seclusion of your verandah you might see Ospreys, Bryde’s whales or a pod of rare Australian Snub Fin Dolphins that are resident and commonly seen in this area. Our Coral Sea Bungalows are exciting both in their location and their style.
Sandpiper Suite
Sandpiper Suite is privacy and romance with a view that follows the decent of dunes on to a long golden stretch of a beach lapped by the Coral Sea. It perches on the southern most point of the headland with views of small islands and an unbroken horizon.
Perched on the headland Sandpiper is privacy and romance at the edge of one of the world’s natural treasures, The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
Luxuriously furnished, Sandpiper has a private verandah, lounge and spacious bedroom, living area and large balcony overlooking our two secluded beaches.
