It has absolutely everything needed for Clients to enjoy some of the best Giant Black Marlin Fishing Trips on the East Coast of Australia. From light tackle to heavy tackle marlin fishing to other game fish including popper fishing for Giant Trevally and jigging for Dogtooth Tuna and other species.

When can I go Heavy Tackle Fishing
Heavy tackle fishing is available all year round with options for chasing Giant (over 1000lb) Black Marlin and Giant Blue Marlin (over 1000lb) on extended trips into the Coral Sea. Heavy tackle fishing for World Record tuna is also available all year round. If you specifically want to catch a massive black marlin (i.e. one of the Giant 1000lb Black Marlin) then the best fishing times are between September and December.
Light Tackle / Fly Fishing & Juniors / Smallfry
Light tackle fishing is available all year round. Anglers from the highyl experienced to the novice can take part in some fantastic fishing no the Great Barrier Reef. Alternatively fish world renowned Cape Bowling Green, only 40nm from Townsville, for Sailfish and juvenile Black Marlin. This area has produced many ultra light tackle and fly fishing records. The crew of Kanahoee specialise in techniques such as switch baiting and teasing specifically for highly visual fishing such as fly-fishing or for photography/video capture.
Light tackle fishing on the Great Barrier Reef can yield Sailfish Black Marlin, Spanish Mackerel, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Cobia, Dogtooth Tuna, Giant Trevally and many more pelagic species.
Tournament & World Record Fishing
Kanahoee can take you to a victory in a range of both Heavy Tackle and Light Tackle tournaments - Kanahoee is fully fitted out with all IGFA classes of tackle. Teams fishing on Kanahoee have had many tournament victories in both Heavy and Light tackle classes including:

- Innisfail Light Tackle Tournament

World Records - Kanahoee is fully fitted with some of the most modern tackle available to fish all IGFA classs. Some species to target include: Black Marlin; Blue Marlin; Dogtooth Tuna; Narrow Barred Mackerel; Queenfish; Wahoo; etc.
Specialised Charter Options Sole charter daytrips, extended live on board, mothership/gameboat combined, Lizard Island resort accommodation. Also available is the option to use Kanahoee as a combination game fishing vessel and mothership for expeditions. You can head for Pricess Charlotte Bay on a barra fishing adventure or come on a Flinders Trip for a big game fishing expedition into the Coral Sea for monster blue marlin and broadbill swordfish .....
