The Visit Cairns.com.au website has been operating successfully for 6 years and is owned/operated by local people with local knowledge; the husband & wife team Heidi & Marty who have lived in the Cairns area for many years. We believe that this part of the world is truly a tropical paradise but then we are a little bias in that regards. We have travelled extensively throughout Queensland especially from Cairns to the tip of Cape York and the Torres Strait. We know the area extremely well. No matter where you travel there is no substitute for specialised, proven local knowledge. One of the challenges we find talking to visitors arranged their travel plans, booked by non-locals is that often they unfortunately do not understand the geography of the region, it is bigger than you think! e.g. Port Douglas is not a suburb of Cairns. As a consequence they frequently have their clients doing more travelling than is necessary. Let’s face it, you can spend a long time travelling just to get here - a better co-ordinated programme enabling you to do everything you want to do makes for a more successful and enjoyable tropical holiday - this can only be achieved by utilising sound local knowledge and experiences. We both are certified scuba divers, both having done over 100 dives, mostly on the Great Barrier Reef around Cairns. We both have worked in the dive industry, both on the boats and behind the scenes in admin roles. We also acknowledge and respect that everybody is an individual and not every listing we have on our site will suit every individual's needs. We will endeavour to tailor any tour/accommodation, where practical and possible, to suit those individual needs to the best of our knowledge. We know what to do in Cairns. We hope that you enjoy your virtual visit to Cairns and our website and do look forward to hearing from you in due course. Cheers From the Tropics! Heidi & Marty |
