The Atherton Tablelands is
located behind Cairns and Kuranda and is diverse in it's beauty and it's
produce. Spectacular waterfalls in the Southern Tablelands are the
main attraction but the smaller towns cannot be missed either. The native
wildlife that can be found throughout the Tablelands, still in their native
habitats is something that should be experienced.
The climate on The
Atherton Tablelands is milder than in Cairns so it's a perfect place
to visit in the warm, summer months
Make sure on these tours to
the waterfalls that you take your swimsuit as there will be ample times to cool
off in the cool mountain water.

This Tablelands tour
includes more of the Atherton Tablelands than any other tour that we have
been on. It's good for all ages and you can be as active or as inactive
as you like .
You will visit two volcanic crater lakes, three waterfalls, National
Parks, Paronella Park (National Trust listed gardens and beautiful old
castle ruins), Windy Hill ( an amazing new Wind Farm) and the famous
Atherton Tablelands Curtain Fig Tree. There are two guided rainforest
walks and a very filling lunch at Mungalli Falls. There is also a visit
to the Wind farm on the Tablelands, a new addition to the tour.
Its a small bus and this
provides for a very personalised tour, with guides well-trained in their
knowledge of the Tablelands. They will even tell you about the Aboriginal legend
associated with the Babinda Boulders, a beautiful little swimming hole you visit
on the way home.
This is a great tour and we know you would
come back happy and relaxed from this day tour (and you also get a little bit of
a sleep in as the tour doesn't depart until about 8.30 am!).

O.K., with a guy calling himself Uncle Brian, you've
got to realise that this is a tour with a difference.
It's an 8.30 am start, heading straight down to the Babinda Boulders, a
place steeped in aboriginal history. It's a really interesting story, as a
lot of the
aboriginal legends are, so make a point to have a listen. There's a walk
through the rainforest and a bit of a biology lesson with a difference,
then it's a swim back upstream in the nice (?) cold mountain water.
Your next stop is Josephine Falls for lunch. There's a really cool natural
rock waterslide here, heaps of fun, and a very popular swimming hole with
the locals.
Millaa Millaa Falls is the next one the list, with a swim before heading
to the side of a river to see if you can see any of the elusive Platypus.
You can't always be guaranteed of seeing one, but if you do, you'll come
to realise that they are one of the strangest looking creatures in
the world!
You get to Lake Eacham in time to watch the light fade from the sky, and
have plenty of time to lay back and soak up the atmosphere before heading
off for a dinner by candlelight.
The trip back down the Gilles Range is a lot of fun, with Uncle Brian
keeping you amused the whole way. It's a fantastic day, with a relaxed
atmosphere and no rushing around, with Gus The Bus getting you back home
by 8.30 pm.
Tour departs Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat
only.
