Accommodation In Cairns' Northern Beaches

Except for the newly opened saltwater swimming lagoon on The Esplanade in the city centre area the only true beaches are located to the north along the area known as the Marlin Coast. The northern beach suburbs start at Machans Beach just passed the airport, then Holloways Beach, Yorkeys Knob, Trinity Park, Trinity Beach, Kewarra Beach, Clifton Beach and Palm Cove. Except for Machans and Trinity Park they all have stinger proof swimming enclosures that are monitored by Lifesavers during the daytime.

These beaches are very popular with both locals and visitors. There is a wide variety of accommodation available with the most preferred type being fully self-contained holiday apartments or houses. Because of the popularity of the beaches you can expect to pay more for accommodation out on the beaches particularly during the high season from April through to September.

The distance from the Cairns city centre can vary from a 10 minute to 30 minute drive and should be considered if you do not have a car or transport, should you decide to enjoy some of the tours available there as there can be an extra charge for transfers to and from the beaches. There is the regular local bus service Sunbus which services all the northern beach suburbs.

Holloways Beach
