Cairns is a world
renown Mecca for all types of fishing whether it be big game fishing
in search of the infamous Black Marlin or sailfish, light tackle game
fishing, saltwater estuary, freshwater, bottom reef, fly fishing, beach or
just casting a line of the jetty.
Their are many
tropical species of fish here that anglers target, none more sought after
than the elusive Barramundi. Other more well sought after fish include
Spanish Mackerel, Coral Trout, Red Emperor, Mangrove Jack, Grunter,
Fingermark, Salmon and the mouth-watering Mud Crab.
We have listed below a
couple of the more popular trips that again give great value and experience
however due to the particular needs of individual fisher people and their
own special preferences please
email us with
your request and we can put together a trip that suits your individual
requirements and your budget.
Please Note:
-
If
you are planning to fish on your own remember that there are legal
measurements and bag limits that apply to nearly all species and the Qld
Boating & Fisheries Dept strictly enforce them. They can appear at
anytime, anywhere.
-
The Great
Barrier Reef is zoned and these zones do not always allow fishing in that
particular area or spot.
-
Mud crabs
have a minimum measurement across the carapace of 150 mm and must be male,
you can not keep females crabs.
Tropical North Queensland offers some of the best
light tackle sport fishing opportunities on the globe. Be it rivers, lakes,
estuaries or off-shore reefs, you can experience the thrill of chasing that
elusive "big one" while surrounded by World Heritage listed rainforests or
the magic of the Great Barrier Reef.
Visitors and locals alike are treated to some of
the best natural scenery and fishing conditions all within a few minutes of
the heart of downtown Cairns while further a field are pristine rainforest
rivers such as the mighty Daintree to the north or the Russell and Mulgrave
River systems south of Cairns.
So while you are in the Cairns region don't miss
out on the world's favourite pastime, dangle a line with a local guide, and
you might just catch the fish of a lifetime.

This is a great little fishing trip
in a small enough boat to fit into all of those nice little hiding spots for fish but big enough to cope with the rather large catches Hamish
your fishing guide sometimes acquires. Not only that but he puts out pots for
our favourite seafood dish; mud crab!!
There is a morning and an afternoon trip and Hamish has been doing this for years
and he knows all of the little nooks and crannies in Trinity Inlet. All fishing equipment is supplied and Hamish will even rig you up and bait your line for you. All you have to do is enjoy yourself
and catch lots of fish. Often any mud crabs caught are cooked up for the onboard
snack. You've gotta love that!! Surveyed to take 10 persons.
Tour departs daily for either
morning, afternoon or night -
Departs from Cairns at 8.30am, 2.00pm and
7.30pm
- Returns: Approximately 12.30pm, 6.00pm and 10.30pm
